Toll Tasmania: Supporting Tasmanian Mirror Sailors

2007 Mid-Winter Madness

Port Cygnet Sailing Club was once renowned for its Mirror racing, and many local veterans remember those days with affection. So, too, do many of the elder statesmen & women of today’s racing fleet.

For them it’s a time for a bit of nostalgia and some mid-winter madness. For the young bloods of today, it’s a chance to prove you’re as mad as they are!

The members of Port Cygnet invite all Mirror sailors to the Club at Wilson Park, Cygnet, for a day of sailing & socialising. There’s no entry fee, but you must register for handicapping & catering purposes by Monday July 9.

We’ll try for 3 short races, with prizes for line honours & the first three boats on handicap, as well as additional surprise give-aways. There’ll be special rewards for successful all-girl crews, and for the crew with the most outrageous attire.

For a low cost there’ll be a hot barbeque lunch with soup & the works. There's a warm clubroom for both competitors and companions, offering great views of Port Cygnet Bay – so family & spectators are extended a friendly welcome as well.

Keep Sunday, July 15 free.

Be rigged for a briefing at 1030. First race at 1100 hours. Lunch around 1300. If it’s totally unsuitable weather, we’ll phone all registered entrants by 0900. The event, now in its 4th year, has never been cancelled yet !

For younger members it will be a great chance to talk Mirror sailing with some of Australia’s best & most experienced competitors.

Come to Port Cygnet for a fun day, and show off your Mirror and your sailing skills.

In this event, only the unlucky will get a “taste” of the Huon!!
